Cebu Pacific (CEB) is naturally disappointed with the European Union’s (EU) decision to blacklist all Philippine airlines from flying to the EU.

This decision was taken based on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Significant Safety Concern issued in December, 2009 and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) downgrade to Category 2 in January 2008, both issued after audits on our regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

CEB wants to assure all our passengers that we continue to maintain the highest standards of safety in all areas of our operations. Our Safety and Quality Management Systems are built to global best practice standards.

In 1999 CEB became the first airline in the world to achieve system-wide International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification. CEB has since then gained the upgraded ISO9001:2000 certification in 2003 and the ISO 9001:2008 in 2009.

CEB fully supports the efforts of Director General Alfonso Cusi, who was appointed on March 10th,2010, and will continue to work actively with the CAAP to help them address the findings of the ICAO and US FAA audits.

Additionally, CEB has received positive feedback from our own submission to the EU Air Safety Commission specifically they have said “The Commission acknowledges the efforts by Cebu Pacific to ensure safe operations and also recognizes that they have put in place internal measures to enhance safety.”

As a result of our submission Cebu Pacific has been selected to undergo an audit of our operations by the Commission and the European Air Safety Agency which will take place in May 2010.

The EU has advised that they will review their blacklisting decision at their next scheduled meeting, in June 2010

Here are a few tips on how you can still get your fun under the sun this summer – Alternative travel routes to Caticlan (Boracay) this summer!

Aside from direct flights from Manila to Boracay (Caticlan), you can explore alternative CEB destinations for lower fares and available seats on desired travel dates. These are Iloilo, Roxas, Kalibo and Boracay (Caticlan) via Cebu.

CEB flies to Iloilo six times daily from Manila and thrice daily from Cebu, with the lowest possible year-round ‘Go Lite’ fare of P888 and P788 respectively. It takes approximately five hours by bus to get from Iloilo to the Caticlan jetty port.

You can also go to Boracay via CEB’s nine times weekly Manila-Roxas flights. The lowest possible year-round ‘Go Lite’ fare for this route is P1,188. Land travel from Roxas to Caticlan takes approximately two hours.

Meanwhile, CEB’s 13 times weekly Kalibo flights offer more seats with its Airbus capacity. The lowest year-round ‘Go Lite’ fare for this route is P1,088. Travel time from Kalibo is approximately two hours to Caticlan.

Those coming from Cebu or want to take a side trip to Cebu can also go from Manila to Boracay (Caticlan) via Cebu. Direct 11 times weekly Cebu-Boracay (Caticlan) flights are up for grabs for P1,188.

And as always, the most sure-fire way to get a flight to Caticlan is to book a few months early!

Thanks and may you have fun and excitement in all your travels!

The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific (CEB) gives travel reminders to its passengers for the holiday season.

AT THE CHECK-IN COUNTER

Check in for the flight as early as possible. CEB counters will close 45 minutes before the estimated time of departure so please be at the airport at least 2 hours before your flight.

In case the passenger arrives at Terminal 3 one hour before the flight, immediately inform CEB personnel. It will always be recommended to check in as early as possible to avoid the stress this may cause. Remember, there will be a lot of people traveling and security checks will take longer.

Those with no check-in luggage for domestic flights can fall in line at the Express Counter.

Be at the boarding gate 30 minutes before the flight’s published time of departure.

Guests on international flights will still have to clear immigration, so please make sure to check-in early, even earlier than the suggested 2 hours before the flight’s departure time.

ABOUT AIRPORT AND SECURITY

Bring in advance the exact amount of the terminal fee in the airport of origin.

Refrain from wrapping gifts in metallic foil since this makes the gift appear solid during security screening and can cause delays due to security checks.

The final security check will require guests to remove shoes, belts with metal buckles, and coins, among others. So wear shoes that are easy to remove, and, if possible, refrain from wearing belts.

ABOUT LUGGAGE

Remember that CEB allows only one hand carry bag (maximum weight is 7 kilos) and gives passengers free 15 kilos baggage allowance (except for Clark which gives 30 kilos). Weigh the luggage in advance so there will be no surprises. If the passenger intends to bring more than 15kgs, remember to bring extra pocket money to settle excess baggage fees.

Fix loose straps and broken locks to avoid luggage problems.

Place identifying markers on the bag to easily differentiate it from everyone else’s.

FOR CONNECTING FLIGHTS

Allot at least two hours between connecting flights so there is more time to get the luggage and check it in again.
